A good move
A joint session of the Town Council and the
Planning Commission will be hi’d on Aug. 25 in
.the town hall at 7:30 p.m. to discuss Milton Herd’s proposal which outlines steps to develop a new Comprehensive Plan for the town. (The current plan is due to be revised next year.) Copies of the proposal are available from Kay Kohler at the town hall.
One facet of the draft proposal is the 12-15 person citizens’ steering committee that will work with Mr. Herd.
The committee would consist of selected members of the Town Council, the Planning Commission, and the Architectural Review Board, with four to six volunteer citizens. It’s goal will be to draft a Comprehensive Plan that will address the town’s needs for the next 10-20 years.
This is an exceptionally good move on the part of the Town Council and the Committee on the Future of the Town.
Any move to get more citizens involved and interested in planning for the future and actively participating in the process is a good one. .
They have also opened the door to county residents to take part.
The meeting on Aug. 25 is the first step. Anyone interested in planning the town’s future should be there.
