On a positive side, I have heard of at least one rescue in the Park that was possible only because the hikers (presumably optimists from the other side of Warrenton!) had carried their cell phones and were lucky enough to be at a spot where they could find signal. These situations will be improved by having good cellular communications in the county. It's not even an arguable point.

We have a great Sheriff s Office, but they can only help out if you're able to reach them in your time of need.

Who do the towers benefit?

One of the oddest complaints I've heard about the towers is that somehow they are evil because they are being built for the benefit people passing through the county, rather than residents. To turn this argument on its head, Sprint is doing a service for the people of this county that they could not afford to perform were it not for commuter and tourist traffic passing through.

The people passing through are funding an excellent, high-tech solution to a problem, and in doing so they are unintentionally benefiting a county of several thousand households that could never support these structures on its own.
