Nicole Williams, 18, of Amissville has done it again! She has qualified to compete at the National Level of the Miss American Teen Pageant for 2000, to be held at the Hilton at Walt Disney World Resort Village during the week of Nov. 20-26.
American Coed State Pageants have been held nationwide annually for the past 16 years in an effort to recognize and award as many outstanding young women throughout America as possible, while encouraging them to set lofty goals for the future.
On Friday, Sept. 1 Nicole left for Richmond, with her father, Rev. Larry D. Williams, where she attended a pre-pageant workshop. Later that evening, she attended the "Get Acquainted" party with other junior teens and teens from the state, where she won the "Limbo" contest, after which they returned home.
Saturday morning, Nicole, her father and mother, Sonya, all departed again for Richmond where the state pageant officially began at the Richmond Marriott.
The morning began with orientation. Various optional contests took place beginning at 11 a.m. Among them were spokes model, sportswear, and talent.
At 1:15 p.m. Nicole, and about 50 other teens performed various talents. Williams chose to sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" an arrangement by Russ Robinson.
Saturday night, after the formal wear competition in which her father escorted her, the winners of the optional contests were announced.
There was a three way tie in the talent division.
Therefore, five girls would repeat their performances Sunday night in the Final Pageant.
Williams was one of the five, and on Sunday, again
