minute to play. After some key free throws by the Clarke girls and one desperation opportunity by the Panthers with seven seconds left, the game ended in Clarke’s favor 46-42.
"It was a tough loss," said Coach Dayton, "We played hard for all 32 minutes and fell short at the end. It was a good experience for our girls though, to be that close, that late in the game. Hopefully, we'll be on the other end next time."
The next night saw the Panthers at home, this time against the Flames from Eastern Mennonite High School. Both the JV and varsity squads had too many turnovers to keep them in contention. The JV lost 44-17. Eighth grader Rachel Gall had seven points, including a three pointer to lead the JV Panthers. The varsity squad started well and was down by only one point at the half 1716. They stalled in the third quarter and couldn't get back in the game, finally losing 4938. Amanda Weakley again led all scorers with a season high 22 points. Gwen Johnson hit a pair of three pointers early in the game and finished with seven points on the night.
Cross Country
The varsity cross country team also competed this past week. On Wednesday, Sept. 20, the Manassas Park cross country team came to RCHS for this years' first home meet. It was a hot, muggy day and
