Both the RCHS girls' basketball and the varsity cross country teams saw action this past week. The Lady Tigers from Brentsville came to town last Tuesday to meet our girls in the district opener. The junior varsity had their best game of the season to date.
Although they fell short of a victory losing 36-21, the JV Panthers did themselves proud. Molly Burke and Ryisha Cook had five points each and Rachel Gall and Danielle Hiserman added four apiece.
After the game Coach Smythe said, "The girls' played very well tonight and showed themselves they could do some special things on the court. They pressed the Brentsville five and realized ten turnovers. You have to be happy with that."
The varsity contest was also a very good game. The Lady Tigers came into the game with an 8-1 record and expected the Panthers to roll over. Our girls had other ideas and played the Brentsville squad toe-to-toe throughout most of the first half. The
