David vs. Goliath

Sprint/PCS could be pickin ’ on the

wrong guy.

The Planning Commission meeting introduction

to the impending cell tower battle indicates that

there is strong unanimity of purpose in the County, and that Sprint/PCS may find that this little David of a place could prove to be a formidable adversary.

In a recent editorial, the Rappahannock News expressed hopes that the community would not direct opposition to community leaders and officials, but that it would support them in their efforts to do what's right for Rappahannock. Judging from public comment at last week's meeting that is exactly what the community is and will be doing.

Extraordinarily germane and well-informed comments presage a good fight—and Sprint/PCS should know that, despite the dictates of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, they'll not come into Rappahannock County unless they do so in accordance with our wishes and needs. And they've got a long way to go.
