• Our first Artist in Residence of the year, Mary Jane Bird, a native Pueblo Indian from New Mexico, is visiting RCES from Sept. 25 to Oct. 6 to teach American Indian (Ms. Bird prefers this term) Song and Dance. The grant this year will focus on the teaching of social studies concepts through the arts. Ms. Bird is with us thanks to funding from a Virginia Commission for the Arts grant obtained through the efforts of Art teacher Harriette Rosenblatt and Music teacher Joy Rollins.
• Many thanks to RCMS parent Mrs. Jane Wilson who constantly volunteers her time and expertise to troubleshoot computer graphics problems for us. She has been tremendously helpful to our Student Calendar project which just keeps getting better and better.
