Join Sharp Rock Vineyards owner David Armor and his wife Marilyn on Saturday, Oct. 7 from noon to 5 p.m. for an afternoon of wine, food and, music at the third annual Sharp Rock Vineyards Wine Festival. One of the highlights of the day will be the debut and tasting of the 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon, a first release for the vineyard.
The vineyard is located at 5 Sharp Rock Road, eight and half miles south of Sperryville off Route 231.
An entry fee of $10 per person includes a Sharp Rock wine glass, wine tasting, a glass of your choice of Sharp Rock wine, and blue grass music.
Gourmet cheeses, pates and sausages will also be available.
The event is held rain or shine.
Located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in unspoiled Rappahannock County, Sharp Rock is one of the most beautiful vineyards in the state. The original Sharp Rock farmhouse, dating back to 1795, has been completely restored, along with a cottage and carriage house that have been converted into an elegant Bed & Breakfast. The winery and tasting room is located in what was once a 100 year old barn.
Sharp Rock Vineyards has been selling to the public for less than three years, but have already made its mark, it has won medals at this year’s Governors Cup, Virginia Wine Growers' Association, and Virginia State Fair competitions.
Its 1999 Chardonnay Reserve won the most medals, receiving three medals, including a gold from the competition at the State Fair.
