In addition to these medals, Sharp Rock's Chardonnay Reserve won a silver at this year's Governor's Cup competition and a bronze at the Virginia Wine Growers Association competition. Its 1999 Cabernet Franc won bronze medals at both the Governor's Cup and the Virginia Wine Growers Association competitions.

Sharp Rock Vineyards began selling wine to the public in 1997. It now produces Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Chardonnay Reserve, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.

All grapes are grown on the vineyard in small lots, none are purchased from outside sources. Most of the wine production is done by hand. Because of its limited product tion, Sharp Rock sells only within a three county radius of the vineyard. t

Sharp Rock Vineyards tasting room hours are 1-5 p.m. Friday, noon-5 p.m# Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. Sundays.
