He said that in no case did Sprint propose to site towers in wooded areas, several are located on scenic byways, and there was "no attempt to spend any money to mitigate the impact (of the towers) on the county. He said that the "RCCA urges the Planning Commission to scrutinize with skepticism," and he offered them the RCCA's support and assistance.
Bill Dobrovir said that the Sprint/PCS application has raised certain questions including the validity of their proposed number of towers, and the "stick it in your face designs they have proposed."
Robert Weinberg pointed to the question of the constitutionality of portions of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, and thb fact that Rappahannock would not have adopted what that law requires of us "unless coerced." He suggested that "we should take a stand and not assume that the Federal government is going to make us do anything.”
