Saturday, Sept. 30
Tom Principato will be performing at Blue Moon on Saturday, Sept. 30. In the 25plus years that guitarist/singer Tom Principato has been plying his trade, more often than not, he's been in the enviable position of getting audiences to collectively drop their jaws in amazement as he reels off one incredible guitar line or tune after another.
In short, Tom Principato is a musician’s musician. Perhaps fellow guitarist Pat Metheny said it best: "He has an enormous talent at telling stories in his solos; he doesn't play 'standard' licks."
Principato divided the earlier part of his professional career between his hometown of Washington, D.C. and Boston. While in Boston, he was the leader of the legendary band Powerhouse, whose lone album and lively shows made them an East Coast phenomenon. He also did a one year stint with guitarist Geoff Muldaur and recorded an album as a member of his band in 1980.
Principato and his band have performed at clubs and festivals throughout the United States and Canada, as well as in Europe (Norway, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Finland, Spain, Greece and Turkey, among others) and St. Croix. Among his many awards are a total of 14 Washington Area Music Association awards
