• The Lighting Ordinance Committee will meet with consultant and dark sky proponent Mark Schuyler at 6:30 p.m. on May 16 to continue work on ordinance development.
• Chairman Krebser commented on proposals for changes to the zoning amendment process received from Cox and Company by Commissioner Tbm Junk. Mr. Krebser said that he was bothered by the complexity of the proposed processes, and he indicated that he felt that they were not appropriate for Rappahannock County. Mr. McCarthy agreed, and said that he would prepare comments on the proposals for discussion at the May Planning Commission meeting.
• Mr. McCarthy provided the Commission with the “first cut” of a zoning amendment that would permit health clubs in highway and village commercial zones through the special use permitting process. Planning Commission members will review the proposed amendment and, if they “generally agree,” Mr. McCarthy will prepare a resolution to advertise for a public hearing.
• County Attorney Peter Luke is drafting an amendment to the Telecommunications Ordinance that will be available for review by the Board of Supervisors by the time of the School Budget Adoption meeting on April 30.
