Members of the Board of Supervisors threw out the first pitch on each of the new ball fields on Friday, April 20. Athletic Director, Mr. Jon Smythe said, “The throwing out of the balls was considered an appropriate way to ‘christen’ the new fields and thank the Board and others for all that’s been done to make these fields a reality.”
The reality was that the opening ceremony had been planned for weeks before, but spring rains had delayed the day until Friday, when the two varsity teams finally played their first Bull Run District home game of the 2001 season.
