Lt. General Daniel Noce has given the Rappahannock Library a rare and important set of books, War of the Rebellion, the official U.S. War Department records, authorized by Congress in 1867, to be distributed on a very limited basis including one set to each state. Two hundred volumes are concerned with land actions of the armies; six volumes are on naval action.
Flint Hill firemen joined by visiting fire company personnel and other guests, feasted on fried chicken and Virginia ham when they were entertained with the annual banquet given by the Ladies Auxiliary last week. Gordon Thornhill of Boston and the Rev. John McKay of Griffinsburg were entertain; ers at the banquet. H.S. Barksdale was toastmaster and Mrs. Barbara Gentry welcomed guests and led ’ them in singing “America.”
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Burner and daughter Faye were feted with a housewarming Saturday at their new home in Amissville. Approximately 75 friends and relatives joined the Burners for the evening.
