track
The track team traveled to Manassas Park on Wednesday, April 18. The boys were missing some team members gone for spring break and it didn’t help. The final score was Manassas Park 116 to 32 for the Panthers.
Sophomore Zach Bridgeman and senior Phillip Thomas remain bright spots for the squad as they captured 24 of their teams 32 points.
The girls’ team fared somewhat better and only lost to Manassas Park 90 to 44. Junior Jessica Nawrocki collected 20 of her teams’ 44 points and freshman Ryisha Cook grabbed 17 of her own. Cook has yet to be beat this year in the 100m dash. She has finished first four times in that event.
Again, two young female athletes - eighth graders Anna Kreyling and Mattie Nawrocki continue to shine. Their 8th grade status prevents them from competing for score against varsity athletes, but their performance can’t be denied. Kreyling high jumped 4”8”— a height that would have won the varsity competition. Her 400m time of 1:16 min would also have won that event.
Nawrocki, younger sister of junior Jessica Nawrocki, ran a 100m hurdle time and long jumped a distance that would have placed her second in both varsity competitions.
Soccer
The Varsity Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer teams traveled to Clarke on Tuesday, April 17, for a game with the Eagles. Weather conditions played a big part in the games as 30m ph winds and occasional snow blasted the fields. V
