Softball
The “Girls of Summer” had an awesome Spring Break! They played six games and won every time.
The softball teams started the week on Monday, April 16, with the varsity home and the JV away against Page County High School. This was the first varsity game on the new field behind the elementary school and a sophomore pitcher named Shhfp was as good as her name.
Rachel Sharp threw the first no-hitter in quite some time here in RCHS softball. Sharp was superb as she struck out 12 and walked one in the 8-0 victory. She faced 23 batters in the game, as she helped her own cause going two for four at the plate and scoring three times.
Sophomore Eva Mills was two for three at the dish to pace the Panther offense. After the game, Head Coach Jon Smythe said, “Rachel is one tough nut out; there on the mound. She doesn’t give in to anyone. Although she’s a good pitcher, her real strengths are her focus and her mental toughness. She comes to play!”
The junior varsity also gave the JV Lady Panthers from Page a rough time with a 21-6, 5-inning victory at Page.
