The most recently retired Gold Cup was taken home by owner Ann Stem when her Saluter won for the fifth time in 1998. Crafted in 1900, that Cup was 30 inches of sterling silver with a gold wash. It was presented to the Virginia Gold Cup Association by John Coleman.
Other owners to retire a ‘ Gold Cup trophy include David Ferguson (1967), Mrs. C.M. Greer (1953), Mrs. Frank Gould (1940), Ms. Summer Pingree (1933), and Mrs. K. Hitt (1925.)
