The Rappahannock County High School girls’ softball team faced Clarke County on April 19, putting a Bull Run District win on the books in the 2-0 contest.
“This is really a key game against Clarke,” Panther head coach Richie Burke said, prior to the contest.
Burke’s pitcher, Rebecca Tupper pulled out the win for Rapp, staying in the circle for the complete game, striking out six while holding Clarke to only three hits on the night.
The game looked to be a scoreless battle until the bottom of the third when Tupper led off with a single, briiiging Jamie Jacobs to the plate.
Jacobs nailed a bunt, advancing Tupper and placing herself on first.
With two runners in scoring position and no outs, Rapp’s Christina Naramore’s power hit to right field earned the team’s catcher a double, scoring both Tupper and Jacobs.
The remainder of the game was scoreless, but with Rapp’s third inning boost, it was enough for the home team to seal the 2-0 victory.
