On Saturday, May 7 at 8 p m., the great fingerstyle guitarist Laurence Juber will give a solo recital at the Theatre at Washington, Virginia. Juber was bom in London’s East End. He grew up during the explosive British pop scene of the early 1960s. He started playing the guitar at the age of 11 and was playing professionally by the time he was 13.
Juber became a featured soloist for England’s National Youth Jazz Orchestra and other bands. At the same time as he was earning a degree in music at the University of London he was also playing guitar for Jesus Christ Superstar and other musicals in London’s West End.
While still a young working musician in Engl ,nd in the 1970s, Juber was asked by Paul McCartney m become lead guitarist for his band “Wings.” Juber spent three years recording and touring the world with the band and was featured on the hit singles
