that duct tape is now available in 19 different colors, from camouflage to hot pink. The students went through quite a few rolls of the stuff in the making of their outfits.
More than fifty rolls were used with half being red for Alicia’s dress. Other colors used were black, white, camouflage and silver.
They estimated that Alicia’s dress would run about $65 — well below the price of an average prom dress.
Alicia and Karl worked on the project for nearly a month every day in their Art II class at the high school. The two agreed that making the patterns, cutting the tape, and taping the pieces together was definitely a fun experience.
Not new to being a seamstress, Alicia said that she has made clothes before, but it was much different working with the tape because it is so stiff. Along with making clothes, Alicia works with ceramics and art wise “a little bit of everything.”
