What a crowd, it was for the Opening Day ceremony that was held on April 16 at Stuart Field in Amissville to kick off another season of baseball.
Randy Johnson, league president, introduced the teams and their sponsors, then each team ran out on the diamond, full of high spirit and ready to play ball.
A moment of silence was held, with all ballplayers hats off, when the Honor Guard from Culpeper High School presented our nations colors and the National Anthem was played by two members of the Rappahannock County High School band. Let the games begin
The game began with pitches smacking the catchers mitt and the hits were flying around the diamond.
Though the air had a chill and the wind was blowing, this did not stop these boys from playing ball and having a great time.
The Rappahannock-Culpeper Baseball League played excellent baseball that day, resembling pro’s playing for the World Series.
