Make sure the person you’ve chosen as your medical proxy is comfortable with accepting this responsibility. Know that by law, he or she cannot make decisions known to be against your religious beliefs, basic values, and stated preferences, nor can your proxy be held legally liable for executing your wishes as you asked.
