Motorcycle timers
American Road Motorcycles Riders Club of Amissville will have their 2nd Annual Habitat for Humanity Poker Run on May 1. Registration will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m, cost $10 per hand. The ride will be roughly 75 miles of spectacular views on the back roads of Western Rappahannock County. Food, door prizes, raffle and music will be available.

A family-oriented program of Broadway tunes from the last 100 years, is the theme for this year’s Spring Concert of the Culpeper-Piedmont Choral Society, to be presented Friday, May 13, at 8 p.m. at the Culpeper Middle School. Tickets at the door will be $12; advance sales $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12. In Rappahannock, call Renae Chapman at 675-3502 for tickets.

Great Spring Garden Party
The Trinity Episcopal Church Garden Guild welcomes your company at their fourth annual ‘Great Spring Garden Party1 to be held at Jessamine Hill Farm on Saturday, May 14, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A buffet dinner will be served as well as a raffle including many lovely shrubs and plants. Charitable donation of $75 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Trinity Church Gardens. Tickets are available in the church office at Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington. Dressage schooling available
The Old Dominion Hounds Pony Club is organizing a series of Friday evening dressage schooling shows this summer at Windsor Lodge Farm, Flint Hill. The dates are May 20, June 17, July 15, and August 12. The shows will run from 4 p.m. to dusk, with food available on the show grounds. Series championship to be awarded. GED Test
The GED test is coming to Rappahannock County on May 10,17 and 24. This is the real GED test and not a practice test. The GED testing center at GWC-Piedmont Technical Center is taking the test on the road in order to meet the needs of the rural communities they serve. Additionally, the Chief Examiner has split the test up in order to make it easier to focus on two subjects at a time. The GED test battery is five subjects: Language Arts, Writing; Language Arts, Reading; Social Studies; Science; and Mathematics. The cost of the GED test is $35 and must be paid by money order made out to Orange County School Board. You must pre-register in order to take the test and can do this at the Rappahannock County School Board office on Rt. 211. Anyone in need of a GED and over the age of 18 can take the test. If you have any questions, call the Regional Adult Education office at 825-0476.
Morchella Mania
Due to the dry conditions our Morchella Mania will be held one week later than originally scheduled. The weather is forecast to be cool and wet for several days now fine for mushroom formation. Our musical acts (Ben Mason on Saturday and A plus on Sunday) have graciously agreed to perform then as well. Sorry for any inconvenience but Mother Nature is waiting slightly longer to produce our prized ‘merkles’ (from ‘miracles’ as pronounced in the Rappahannock creole) So we’ll feast on morels and drink mead on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1. Please consider donating an old dulcimer to our unique museum. As many of you know, we display and demo quality/vintage lap dulcimers as well as having lesser ones for folks to experiment with.
