Set in the stark but breathtaking Gobi Desert of southern Mongolia, the film begins by observing the details of life among a nomadic family of camel, sheep and goat herders, all played by members of a real family. The father is Ikcee, the mother Odgoo, and they live in a small portable home called a yurt with their respective elderly parents and three children of their own. The youngest is a girl named Guntee; the sons are Dude and Ugna.
