The Rappahannock County High School varsity baseball team hosted the Clarke County Eagles on April 19, putting a mark in the win column for the home team, 9-3.
It looked to be an Eagles’ game in the first two innings with Clarke scoring one run in the first, then adding two in the second, boasting an early 3-0 lead.
However, that was all the Eagles could put on the board with the Panthers’ defense holding them from scoring.
It was all Panthers in the third with Rapp putting up six runs on the board to overtake Clarke.
Rapp’s Will Miller drew a walk, followed by Karl Thornhill’s single.
A solid hit by Rapp junior Alex Sharp pulled Miller home.
Next in the lineup, Blake Yowell singled, then stole a base, bringing Ethan Russell to the plate for a single.
Jason Jenkins and Jacob Dodson hit back-to-back homers to put the Panthers ahead 6-3.
In the fourth, Ben Hahn singled and Jenkins connected for his second homer of the night, racking up four RBI’s.
After four innings of play, the Panthers held the lead, 8-3.
Hahn singled in the sixth and stole second, then Dustin White drove Hahn in for the final run of the day.
