Four motorcyclists
injured and one
dead over weekend

Rappahannock County experienced a rash of motorcycle crashes over the weekend, with multiple accidents resulting in four injured motorcyclists and one fatality. All but one of the motorcycle accidents over the weekend are believed by deputies to have occurred due to the motorcyclist’s loss of control, and three of the accidents involved groups of riders.
Rappahannock County Sheriff Larry Sherertz believes that the the unusual amount of similar accidents represents a reoccurring problem in the county.
These are persistent issues. We have the performance of the motorcycles outstripping the riders’ ability to use them,” said Sherertz.
Fatality
Virginia State Police are still investigating the death of Timothy B. Ezell, a 28-year-old from Springfield, Massachusetts. Ezell was active duty Air Force, and stationed at Andrews Air Force Base. At around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday Ezell was riding his motorcycle westbound on US 211 with two other motorcyclists from Andrews when he apparently lost control of his bike and struck the right guardrail, fully ejecting him from his vehicle. His companions were some distance behind and have told police they did not witness the accident.
