from a traveling baseball team, the rough artificial grass surface was not uncomfortable enough to keep tired volunteers from catching a quick nap on the way to a work site.
“These are such nice kids,” smiled Heddleston. “We covered the tables with large rolls of paper and put some crayons there for fun. Each day they've been leaving messages thanking us for the food. It was an unexpected treat for us to see that. I feel that we are acting as missionaries by ministering to them. It’s a wonderful program.”
Impact Virginia! volunteers have a full schedule while on their mission trips; their days begin at 6 a m. with a morning worship devotional session before they head off to work until three or four in the afternoon.
In the evenings the crews are treated to more relaxing activities, like skits presented by Impact Virginia! members and a performance by a Christian rock band.
