Lantern Lane Bed

and Breakfast

discussed at

Commission.

Approved by BZA

Walter and Deborah Craig, owners of the Lantern Lane Farm applied to the Commission for a special use permit to operate a bed afm breakfast and an equestrian center. They have mewed their bed and breakfast fitapi Dodson Road, in Culpeper, to 16, Lantern Lane, in Viewtown. They have already built the facilities.

With several qualifiers, the Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval.

The Commission wanted two questions answered: Does having a plot of land straddling two counties legally make the plot only the size of that portion in the local jurisdiction, for zoning purposes? And is the right of way of the Craig’s access road as wide as the law requires? If neither of the answers presents any obstacles, the Commission recommends approval, with two conditions: TTiere can only be seven overnight guests and no more than eight customer cars parked at any one time. Since the Commission meeting, both issues have been settled in the Craig’s favor and the Board of Zoning Appeals have approved their application.
