Classroom Addition ($719,846 compared to original bid of $747,000). If we do both the gym and the addition, Lantz will reduce the price by an additional $81,846.00. While the prices are indeed lower than the bid Lantz originally made on the project, the total to do both ($1,907,000) exceeds the unencumbered balance of the loan of $1.4 million.
Our Response
Considering these new bids, The School Board’s Facilities Committee met July 18 and plans to propose the options detailed below to the full School Board at a special meeting on August 2. The information will also be presented to the Board of Supervisors on August 1.
The loan and interest earned through June 1 totaled $4,034,165.74. The School Board has encumbered $2,635,759.00 of that for replacing the RCES roof, upgrading the RCES electrical, and installing RCES HVAC.
The encumbered amount also includes architect fees, testing fees, etc. We are also setting aside an additional $78,000 from the loan as a reserve for unforeseen construction costs. $1,320,406.74 remains.
