O Fauquier Hospital Breaking new ground Fauquier Hospital is an 86-bed acute care hospital serving this rural and suburban community.
Established in 1954 by a group of community volunteers, Fauquier Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. It remains independently operated, and governed by a volunteer board of trustees.
As the only hospital in neighboring Fauquier County, Fauquier Hospital provides a full array of innovative diagnostic and treatment capabilities. Patient care areas include two medical-surgical nursing units, an intensive care unit ICC-CCU, Family Birthing Center, five-room surgical suite, plus emergency, outpatient special procedures, cardio-pulmonary, interventional radiology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and medical imaging and diagnostics departments.
From''its hilltop campus, Fauquier Hospital is the central hub of medical care in the area. The present facility' was built in 1957 and has grown with several expansion projects, the most recent being the current $50 million dollar, hospital-wide renovation, which began in 2003.
Tlie most notable changes patients have seen since then occurred with the opening of the five-storv Tower in January 2004 and the west w ing vertical expansion in March 2005.
The hospital now houses a new 10 bed ICU/CCU, outpatient procedures department, cardio-pulmonary gym, infusion center, conference center, a health resource center, a chapel and a gift shop.
