The State Veterinarian has confirmed the first cases of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in horses this year.
Two horses from Chesapeake have tested positive and four more are under evaluation. In 2004, Virginia reported five cases of EEE in equines, four from Chesapeake and one from Suffolk.
