The U.S. Postal Service will issue two 37-cent stamps nationwide on July 30 and 31. American Advances in Aviation wil premiere te new designs in a pressure adhesive pane of 20 entitled American Advances in Aviation build on the popular Classic American Aircraft collection issued in 1997. Aircraft chosen for this new stamp pane illustrate American innovations and technological contributions to military, commercial, and general aviation during the 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s. The following ten aircraft will be featured:

Boeing’s 247 and B-29 Superfortress;

Consolidated’s PBY Catalina and B-24 Liberator;

Lockheed’s P-80 Shooting Star;

Grumman’s F6F Hellcat;

Republic’s P-47
