on numerous occasions. As a matter of fact, he said he was headed up that way last week to go fishing. Like most people, he prefers the walleye to the northern pike.

I appreciated the call, and we had a good conversation about our exploits in those regions. Hope to hear about his luck when he gets back to the states. (Small world note: Basil’s cqusin, “Dot,” married my cousin Mary Lillard.)

Get well list

Another of our community citizens took a fall last week. Bill Welch, whose wife used to write this column, fell and broke his leg. Bill was working with Impact Virginia, of the Shiloh Baptist Church Association, and they had about 350 youngsters working to help some of our citizens with repair projects on their homes.

Bill does so much for the community and he will surely be missed this week at the Flint Hill carnival. Bill is at the Fauquier Hospital. Let’s keep him in our hearts and prayers and wish him a speedy recovery.
