On Tuesday night, Rappahannock County High School’s girls’ varsity basketball team showed what can happen when they’re ready to play.
“This was such a good team effort,” Rappahannock County head coach Rhonda Jenkins said, after the Lady Panthers scored their first victory of the season, 45-41, over Warren County.
“We just weren’t ready for Luray because we were coming off volleyball, and didn’t practice much together. Fm hoping to get our legs going for basketball.”
Five of Rappahannock’s eight players played for the Group A state-qualifying volleyball team. As a result, Jenkins did not have them ready to practice as a team until just a week before the season opener against Luray.
Spending a little more time together definitely yielded a more positive result.
