Masson said that she had references from a number of architectural historians, and that helped her gain the access she needed to make the book what it is.
And she has advice for her readers: “You have to go,” she said. “You can’t just get all you want out of this book, you have to go there. They’re working on many of these places, discovering new things about the houses and the people that lived in them. If you went there in the third grade, go again.”
