Solon & Sonja Betts didn’t start out to become that “wow” house at Christmas time. It’s just kind of worked out that way! When they moved into their new home 10 years ago, they hung a few. Christmas lights, just like lots of other Amissville families. But Soiya has a real love for decorating for the holidays and so each year they’d add another string of lights or some additional decorations. And friends and family, knowing her love of Christmas would give her additional decorations as gifts. Fast forward to 2006 and the Betts home has become the place to go to see Christmas lights in these parts.

The Betts’ outdoor Christmas decorations now include strings of Christmas lights, icicle lights, a lighted nativity scene, additional lighted figures such as deer, reindeer, seal, and Santa Claus and his sleigh. There are three inflatable snowmen and three inflatable Disney characters, Winnie the Pooh, the Grinch and Mickey Mouse. Betts son, Cody, says his favorite decoration is the Santa that shakes his rear end! While sons Tfed and Dustin didn’t offer up personal favorites, decorating and getting ready for the holidays is definitely a family affair.
