Position available to serve as Dispatcher and Customer Service Assistant with the Department of Animal Care and Control at the Animal Shelter near Waterford VA. Position requires outstanding customer service skills for a high volume of telephone calls and walk in customers. Position requires answering the telephone, taking animal related complaints, providing accurate information pertaining to state and local animal laws to citizens, and accurately dispatching and monitoring Animal Control Officers in the field. Position also requires overseeing all front counter operations to include answering phones, assisting the public with adoption and surrender of animals, processing dog licenses, and taking lost and found reports. Successful candidate will have strong verbal communication skills, computer and administrative skills, knowledge of radio dispatching procedures, and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously with an attention to detail. Shift varies with some evening and weekends. Preference to be given to individuals with prior dispatching and customer service experience. Requires a High School diploma and 2 years related job experience. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a background check and medical examination including drug screening.
