Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday
An Essay Contest entitled, “Dr. King’s Dream What I will do to keep the dream alive" is open to students in grades 5th & 6th, 7th - 9th, and 10th - 12th in Rappahannock County schools, public and private. The essay contest is sponsored by the Julia E. Boddie Scholarship Committee in celebration of the 16th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday celebration held each year in January. The deadline for submissions is December 11, 2006. Dec. 12: DAR meeting
The monthly meeting of the of the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter of the NSDAR will be held at the Culpeper County Library on Tuesday, the 12th. The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. The program: “Christmas in Colonial America” will be presented by Jane Kearns and other members. (Members are asked to bring a Christmas ornament to exchange.) Hostesses will be Ann Markham, Sandra Stowe and Jane Volchansky. The chapter is comprised of residents of Rappahannock, Culpeper and Madison Counties.
