parts of these houses that aren’t open to the public. It was really something special. Imagine getting free rein of Monticello and Mount Vernon for a day. We were there very early and then again after it closed. I went up in the cupola at Mount Vernon and crawled around in the attic at Monticello. We were invited to spend a night at Eyre Hall, which was a lot of fun ... true Virginia hospitality.”

Masson said that it sometimes was difficult to decide what photos to use.
“There were so many beautiful photos of these houses that we sometimes struggled to decide,” she said. “But there is a selection that you could easily love.”
