cal remains are present. It is only when federal money is being spent for a project, or when a federal permit is required, that historical significance must be considered. The presence of historical sites may, in fact, prevent land from being taken away from the owner by the power company.
When the first power line was built in the area in the early 1970s, there was no consideration of historic landmarks, and there is no knowing how much may have been destroyed. That makes it even more important to protect what may still remain.
