The policy-making process was stimulated last summer by a petition from residents of Piedmont and Oden avenues west of Washington. The policy is written in generic terms that will apply to any proposed changes to the town’s official boundary.

The council will be able to consider the Piedmont-Oden petition after an amended comprehensive plan is approved.

Wastewater system

The process to build Washington’s planned wastewater treatment system continues to move along.

Leggett said on March 14 that the environmental assessment for the proposed treatment plant site near Avon Hall is less than two weeks from completion.

He said the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality will have one to two months to consider the application before deciding whether to approve or reject it.
