Finally, lighting your accessories is important, in that they should stand out even when the room is dimly lit. Many china cabinets come with lighting for that very reason. Light to enhance an important painting can be accomplished in several ways: either a directional spot from the ceiling, plighting from below, an unobtrusive picture lamp over the top for that very purpose, or with a lamp on a table that becomes almost part of the “tableau”.
