After allotting sufficient time in preparing the case and consulting with Judge John Cullen, who will be presiding, a date for Gray’s trial was set to take place from Oct. 29 to Nov. 5.
Bruns desired between six and eight days. “It probably won’t take that long, but that’s what it took in Richmond,” he said.
Commonwealth’s Attorney, Gary Close, agreed.
Both confirmed that several motions would be filed in the case, but said it was too early to determine a date for arraignment. Gray plead notguilty to first degree murder in January.
When Bruns was asked about a possible change of venue, he commented that such motions would be heard about a month before the trial. He expects many, “administrative” motions to be filed.
