as ner cnnaren grew, she explained her involvement into other Extension organizations. She became a 4-H leader and was a member of the county’s 4-H Honor Chib, a group that included top notch youngsters and a few adults.

Along with her volunteer efforts and family responsibilities, she worked as a school teacher, instructing youngsters at the old Reagar School near Willis Chapel for eight years, and then served as Flint Hill’s postmaster for 21 years.

In the 1940s, she and htfr - husband began a farming operation, raising purebred Hereford cattle. That's when the Homemakers really helped me out,” she recalled. “I learned to can milk and cheese. I learned to can everything! Even meat. I remember visiting the homes of other women and helping them can chicken in a pressure cooker.”
