Goodbye is a harsh word, a hard word to say, especially when it ends a relationship that began more than a decade ago. In leaving the Rappahannock News, I feel like I’m leaving an old friend.
I started at the paper more than 10 years ago as a proofreader. It was my introduction to the names and relationships, the issues and problems of Rappahannock. For two years, I delivered the News as well, making the rounds of the country stores, putting faces with those names. Then I pasted up the weekly advertisements that are the paper’s bread and butter, becoming familiar with the businesses that support the local economy.
