Thus the Democratic candidates in the First, Sixth, Seventh and Ninth Districts will be chosen by conventions while those in the Eighth and Tenth Districts will be elected in primaries. There will also be uncontested primaries in the Fourth and Fifth Districts. The GOP will nominate all of its candidates by convention except in the Tenth District where the incumbent is unopposed in a primary.
Nothing about all this is set in concrete, however. The conventions and primaries are still in the future and there is ample time for additional candidates to qualify.
But at the moment it appears the real battleground between the parties in November will be in the contests for the Congress.
Spring Festival Set
The 6th Annual Old Town Warrenton Spring Festival will be held on Main Street in Warrenton on Saturday, May 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Festival will include over 180 craftsmen displaying for exhibit and sale such homemade crafts as jewelry, quilts, pottery, wood carvings, leather goods, ceramics, etc.
The wide range of activities planned for the day include music by the U.S. Navy Band “The Country Current” and the Free State Ramblers, as well as pony rides, a petting zoo, and a pie eating contest. A variety of food and drink will be available—including homemade ice cream. The admission is free.
