I’ll leave our daughter with her Dad long enough to slip away for a School Board meeting, an interview with one of Rappahannock’s most colorful and fascinating citizens and sessions of the Water and Sewer Authority and Board of Zoning Appeals. After all these years, I want to be there when the switch is thrown to turn on the Sperryville sewer system, when the first shovel of dirt is lifted for the high school expansion, when the zoning and planning boards begin to guide the county's development under our newly revised ordinances.
In other languages, there are words that aren’t quite as final as goodbye. The French say “au ’voir,” the Germans “auf weidersehen.” Both mean until we see each other again. So I'll borrow from them.
