They’re looking forward to a better year in this, their second year in business. Still, Peggy and Arthur Smith, owner-operators of The Sperryville Antique Market, go home at night tired with more work left to do.
Their initial year in business wasn’t an easy one. At least once, they thought seriously of quitting.
“We were discouraged,” Peggy recalled, while taking time out from painting and other activities for an interview. We thought of closing last August, after only 2Vi months (in business). It’s hot, we thought, and no one comes. ‘Maybe we should close, Arthur,’ I said.”
