When I finally became a reporter, I was prepared. I’ve spent the last nine years at this typewriter, writing stories on Rappahannock’s School Board and Board of Supervisor meetings, planning commission and zoning sessions, political campaigns and elections and the wonderftil people who make our county such a special place. I’m leaving not because I’m tired of the job but because the arrival of a baby calls for an unexpected change in career plans. I’m going from full time editor and general manager to full time mother and part time (very part time) writer. Getting to know our new daughter will be my top priority this summer, not computing the percentage of tax increase in the 1964-86 budget. And I’m looking forward to my new responsibilities with joy and excitement that I can’t begin to express.
