Understates Role
Despite the task of raising 10 children, many of them born during the Great Depression, Mrs. Brady understates her role as Mom.
“The kids were good, and always helped out with everything," she said.
Even during the Depression, Mrs. Brady considered her family fortunate. “I was lucky my husband had a steady job,” she said. Hand we raised most of our food. We had our own cows, hogs, chickens and garden. It wasn’t so bad; we seemed to make it okay."
Mrs. Brady’s husband, Moffett, former superintendent of the Rappahannock County Highway Department, worked on county roads for 50 years. Moffett passed away in 1975. ***’
